Studio 3 Hotel Project - Grand Venue

This is a sun study I did for my "grand venue" space for my Studio 3 hotel project (see other images below). The space was partially inspired by James Turrell's crater project. I was interested in achieving that odd sensation of being half underground and half exposed, so the main view when you enter is a panoramic window in front of a terraced planted area that is about 9 feet tall. The building has a green roof with a large occulus over the center of the room. This casts shadows throughout the day. Going along with my concept for the hotel, I wanted this to be the system I called attention to, so I designed a floor pattern based on sun patterns. This space is still a work in progress.
